Understanding Blink's New Navigation Menu
Blink is introducing a redesigned navigation menu to help you access your information more quickly and intuitively. The new structure includes a dedicated Quotes section in the header, reorganised button placement, and a clearer separation between your business data and system settings.
What's Changing
Header Navigation Updates
A new Quotes tab will appear in the header navigation, providing quick access to:
- Quote requests (for shippers)
- Quote submissions (for carriers)
- Quote management and history
Relocated New Booking Button The New Booking button is moving to provide better workflow organisation:
- Primary location: On the Bookings list page, where you're most likely to need it
- Quick access: Available in the dropdown menu from anywhere in the app for convenience
Menu Structure Changes
The main navigation menu now distinguishes between two types of information:
Data Section (Coming in Phase 2) The Data section will house your core business information:
- Locations: Collection and delivery addresses
- Zones, Areas, Rates: A new system to input geographical details and your custom rates.
- Vehicles: Items that you have been moving through the plaform.
- SLAs: Service Level Agreements with your partners
- Customer details: Shipper information specific to your operations
Settings Section The Settings section focuses on system-related configurations:
- Notifications: Email and in-app notification preferences
- Team: Team member management
- Users: User roles and permissions
- Billing: Payment methods and invoicing
- Accounting: Financial settings and reports
Rollout Schedule
Phase 1: 15th of October
- The new navigation menu will be visible in your Blink interface (web and mobile)
- The Quotes tab will appear in the header navigation
- The New Booking button will move to the Bookings list page and dropdown menu
- All sections, including Data, will temporarily remain under Settings
- Note: You may need to hard refresh your browser to see the changes (Ctrl+F5 on Windows or Cmd+Shift+R on Mac)
Phase 2: November (TBA)
- The Data section will move to its dedicated location in the main menu
- Settings will contain only system-related configurations
- The transition will be seamless with no data loss
How to Use the New Navigation
Accessing Key Features
Creating a New Booking:
- Option 1: Navigate to the Bookings page and click the New Booking button
- Option 2: Click on your profile or company name to open the dropdown menu, then select New Booking
Accessing Quotes:
- Click the Quotes tab in the header navigation at any time
Accessing Settings and Data:
During Phase 1 (next week):
- Click Settings in the dropdown menu to access all your data and system configurations
After Phase 2 (next month):
- Click Data in the dropdown menu to access locations, vehicles, SLAs, and customer details
- Click Settings in the dropdown menu to access notifications, team, users, billing, and accounting
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Will I lose any data during the transition?
A: No. This is purely a navigation update. All your existing data remains intact and accessible.
Q: Why did the New Booking button move?
A: We've moved it to the Bookings page where it fits more naturally into your workflow. It remains easily accessible via the dropdown menu from anywhere in the app.
Q: Do I need to update my bookmarks?
A: Some internal page URLs may change after Phase 2. If you've bookmarked specific pages in the settings, you may need to update them after the full rollout.
Q: Can I switch back to the old menu?
A: No, the new navigation will replace the existing structure for all users. However, all functionality remains accessible, just in a more organised format.
