Getting started with multi-leg

Get started with multi-leg functionality by creating and allocating legs to runs, viewing multi-legs on booking detail pages and vehicle details, handling delivery and collection exceptions, and managing ready at and delivery by times efficiently.

Our long awaited multi-leg functionality has arrived! Follow the steps below to get started.

Creating multi-legs

  1. To get started, navigate to your dispatch tab
  2. Hover over the vehicle and select the multi-leg button
  3. Here you can enter one or multiple locations between your original collection and delivery
  4. Close the modal - now your new legs are created, and ready to be assigned to your drivers from the vehicle dispatch panel

Allocating multi-legs

After you've entered in a multi-leg location, you can allocate it to a run from the vehicle dispatch panel.

In the screenshot below, you can see we've added a new column called Leg #. For each vehicle you can see their leg sequence. Every vehicle starts with one leg after you create a booking, from the original pickup to the original delivery.

In this example, Golden Point is the multi-leg location we've added previously.

Now you can allocate each leg to a run as per normal.

Viewing multi-legs

After you've allocated legs to your drivers, you'll want to view them.

To view your multi-legs

  1. Navigate to the relevant booking detail page.
  2. If you've created additional legs, you'll see them in your vehicle rows. Here you can see if they've been assigned to a run and if so, which one.

In the example above, both legs for that vehicle have been assigned to a run. The vehicle status is now allocated, as all legs have been allocated.

Note: Similar to our existing statuses, the vehicle status will remain booked until all legs are allocated.

Vehicle details page

We've expanded our vehicle details page to include leg information.

  1. To view, select vehicle details from the more options menu at the end of the row. Here you'll see POP/POD information for each location associated with that vehicle, legs statuses, and the full vehicle details audit trail as per normal.

Delivery exceptions

We've extended our delivery exception functionality. After inputting from the driver or web app, we now do a few things:

    1. We automatically create an ad hoc location on that run for your drivers to deliver to. This way, no matter where your drivers take the vehicle to, they can capture the appropriate information for that location. By default, we place that ad hoc location at the end of that run. Admins can now reorder that location, or the driver can select complete next if necessary.
    2. We also create a new leg to be collected from the ad hoc location, to the original, corresponding delivery.
    3. This leg is now free to be allocated.

Collection Exception

No real difference here - after inputting a collection exception, that vehicle's collection and delivery will appear on the vehicle dispatch panel like normal, ready to be reallocated when you're ready.

Ready at, delivery by times

If you create a multi-leg location, the booking ready at time will be placed on the first leg. If you've entered a deliver-by time, it will be placed on the last leg.

What happens with Shipper email updates?

No matter how many multi-leg locations you add to a vehicle, the only email updates they'll receive (depending on your selection of course) are the original pickup, delivery and on the final booking complete. Anything you do in between those locations will not trigger any emails to your shippers.
